From most of the stuff I've heard, he treated his own children very well.
Loved the man's music. Have to respect what he did for the industry (saved it from a crash it was about to experience coming out of the 70's). Elevated the music video to an art form. You also can't take away that he holds the greatest selling album of all time, Thriller, which will likely got Triple Diamond now in the wake of his death. The closest album to it is Back in Black by AC/DC and its got a long way to go. The man made rather bold statements with his music, and technically was a genius of the craft. His knowledge of musical theory is beyond what most can comprehend.
However, the person behind it all was a bit weird. While we dont' know the truth about the whole child molestation thing (as he was found innocent), he is still a bit of a freak.
Roger Ebert, who never met the man, wrote a great article on him yesterday. He said that Micheal was basically a man who never really had a childhood, and spent his entire life and fortune trying to capture something that, as an adult, you can't. Like Peter Pan, which is symbolic in that he named his ranch Neverland.
My comment stems from Him being mentally fucked though. Surgically and chemically destroying himself, hiding and hoarding his kids from everything is not conducive to a healthy living environment. They may yet know normalcy with his death.
Devious Comments
That's cold.
Can't say I disagree though...
